Physics laboratory (Room no. A-127) is designed in a way to include experiments of various areas of physics such as various measuring instruments, properties of materials, mechanics, Basic electric circuits, semiconductors etc. The laboratory is equipped with good number of instruments. Virtual lab and simulation based experiments have also been introduced. Lab on smart phone is encouraging for html simulation based experiments. The main purpose of this laboratory is to give knowledge and experience to students for developing experimental skills and exposing them to modern techniques.
Objectives:
The Chemistry Laboratory (room no. A-127) is well located with an airy and spacious hall including a wall-cupboard for safe keeping of corrosive chemicals in view of the laboratory safety. Each working table in the laboratory is well furnished with reagent racks & well connected with water supply. The Chemistry Laboratory is well equipped with available instruments other than the usual glassware & chemicals as per GTU syllabus.

Mechanics of
Structures Lab
Concrete
technology provides information on materials, properties, mix design, types,
strength and durability of concrete. To enhance the quality of
workmanship properties of various materials used in civil engineering is of
prime importance and this experiments to know the properties and behaviour of
construction materials is carried out in Concrete Technology laboratory. This
laboratory will provide knowledge of materials such as cement, sand, aggregate etc.
This laboratory also provide good knowledge of fresh concrete and hardened
concrete properties.
This laboratory gives the basic understanding of
structural member under the action of loads by applying engineering mechanics
laws. Engineering Mechanics is to develop the capacity to predict the effects
of force while carrying out the creative design functions of engineering. This
lab will give experience to learn and apply the principles required to solve engineering
mechanics problems. The students will experience the changes in behaviour of
structure due to application of loads. Basics of determinate structures will be
introduced through experiment. The main purpose of any structure is to support
the loads coming on it by properly transferring them to the foundation.
Soil mechanics laboratory at the department level provide the
practical and hands-on experience in carrying out various tests related to soil
material. Soil mechanics laboratory is useful for carrying out practical
related to properties of soil, which is of utmost importance in laying
foundation of various civil engineering structures such as dams, roads, bridges
and buildings. This laboratory will help students in identifying the type of
soil and its different properties.
Many materials
are being used for construction, the prime importance of that material is its
strength. I.e. tensile, compression, shear, etc. can be tested in this
laboratory. Laboratory also deals with the measurement of deflection and
important phenomena of mass moment of inertia for a solid body.
Electrical Machine Lab:
In this
lab we perform load test of induction motor, basics of single phase induction
motor, various types of starters, finding voltage regulation of alternator by
various methods, parallel operation of transformer, synchronizing of alternator
with bus bar and various practical’s on dc machines.
Electronics Lab:
In this lab we perform Digital Electronics and digital Instrumentation
various experiments as De Morgan’s Theorem ,NAND and NOR Gate as universal gate
, Adder sub tractor ,BCD to Seven
segment display .
Micro Processor and controller Lab-Here we analyze
results of Addition, Subtraction Multiplication of 8 bit number on kit 8085 and
training kit of 8051.
DC Circuit:
Performs of Ohm’s Law , Series Parallel, Superposition Theorem etc.
Power Electronics:
SCR characteristics, Triac characteristics ,Intensity control of light
using Diac and Triac, Speed control of Universal motor.
Electrical Power lab:
In this lab Over current and Earth fault relay, Feeder
protection system, Current transformer, Wheatstone bridge, Power measurement by
two watt meter method.
Computer Lab:
This laboratory is has around 25 computers with high configuration and
internet facility in computer. All are connected in LAN. It is fully air
conditioned and sounds proof. In this
lab we perform practical of Basic Computer application like MS word, MS
excel and also perform Computer Aided Electrical Drawing of electrical circuit
,electronic circuit.
